Roy Graff has made his career in travel and tourism business development with a strong emphasis on China. He has a deep understanding of China's culture and business practices from academia, public and private sector work. Returning to Europe after a long period of travel industry work in China, Roy founded ChinaContact in 2005 in response to the lack of knowledge in the West about China's tourism potential. He offers assistance to tourism companies, travel providers and tourism promotion bodies eager to discover the tremendous potential of China as both market and destination.

Since 2002 until early 2005, Roy was engaged in senior level business development and travel product distribution for the world's leading independent provider of products to the travel trade, Gullivers Travel Associates (now part of Cendant Corporation). He lived in China's two commercial power houses, Beijing and Shanghai and travelled extensively to China's major cities, forging good personal relationships with key private sector and government contacts.

 

Roy is the founder of the WTM-ChinaContact forum on China's tourism industry and a regular speaker on China's tourism sector development. He most recently spoke at the Asia Luxury Travel Market in Shanghai, the Travel Distribution Summit in Singapore and the Travel Distribution Conference in Beijing and other trade events. He regularly travels to China to assess and develop tourism investment projects and has a keen interest in promoting sustainable tourism in China.

 

As well as providing consulting and direct marketing services in China, Roy is involved in several tourism startups in China within the e-commerce and hotel management sectors.
