Caroline de Maisonneuve
Asia Marketing &
Promotions Manager,
Galeries Lafayette
Born in UK (of Scottish
stock) but raised all over the world, Caroline has spent much time in
the Asian region. After two years in Singapore working for Takashimaya,
a Japanese retail giant she joined the Galeries Lafayette group in
France. Combining retail and tourism in the golden years of Japanese
tourism in Paris, she went on to develop Galeries Lafayette’s
promotion strategy for the rest of Asia.
Moving to Japan for 4 years meant a change of course to PR work for
Galeries Lafayette and innovation marketing and research on a freelance
basis for eXperts, a French Consultancy.
After three years in Sri
Lanka, where she wrote a guide book ‘Sri Lanka for
Kids’, Caroline returned to Paris to take charge of
Promotions and Marketing for the Asian region. Caroline is responsible
for a team of 30 covering marketing, promotions and customer services
for clients from the Asian region. From ground work in Asia to in store
customer service, her multi lingual team aims to make Galeries
Lafayette an absolute must on any Asian visitor’s agenda in
Paris.
With a third of Galeries
Lafayette’s customers coming from abroad, and a large part of
this share representing the Asian region, maintaining the ultimate in
customer service for tourists from Japan, China, Korea, Hong Kong
,Taiwan and the South East Asian region is vital. Knowledge of the
customer is of utmost importance and Galeries Lafayette has been
striving to follow and adapt to the needs of this very important client
base.

Galeries Lafayette
Haussmann
Europe’s number one department store (Annual Sales
€827 million) is a retail paradise of 65.000m² spread
over three buildings in the heart of Paris Haussmann boulevard shopping
precinct.
With twice as many visitors per year as the Eiffel tower, Galeries
Lafayette is most definitely the ‘capital of
fashion’ and strives to bring fashion alive on a daily basis
(foreign tourists can check out the latest collections at the weekly
fashion shows every Friday at 3pm).
An art deco stained glass dome 33m high, and the world’s
largest beauty emporium (in terms of turnover) make the main building a
monument in itself. The extensive array of international customer
services on offer makes it the shopping destination on any Parisian
tourist’s itinerary. The company is one of the last fully
family owned retail companies in France with a history of 150 years.
The Galeries Lafayette group has over 50 department stores in France
and one in Berlin.
